The City of Brunswick is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to serve as the Deputy Planning Director.
This critical leadership role involves overseeing various aspects of community development, including planning, zoning, economic development, and code enforcement.
The successful candidate will collaborate with city officials, community stakeholders, and other departments to shape the future of our vibrant city.
Responsibilities:
Planning and Zoning:
Supervise and manage planning and zoning activities.
Review land use applications, zoning codes, and development proposals.
Provide guidance to staff and ensure compliance with city regulations.
Economic Development:
Work closely with local businesses, developers, and community organizations.
Identify economic development opportunities and strategies.
Foster partnerships to enhance economic growth and vitality.
Code Enforcement:
Oversee code enforcement efforts related to building permits, property maintenance, and land use.
Collaborate with inspectors and address violations promptly.
Ensure adherence to city codes and ordinances.
Community Engagement:
Engage with residents, neighborhood associations, and business owners.
Facilitate public meetings and workshops.
Promote community involvement in planning and development processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in planning, zoning, management or related areas.
Strong knowledge of land use regulations, economic development principles, and code enforcement practices.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency in office software, and project management tools.
